The Quran and the Sunnah combined give us a complete idea of what a human being can do. They are the guide to the most productive human being. Science also tries to make this manual. To see if they match, I will look at two aspects. The first one is the right amount of sleep. Science has tried to give us an idea, but most people find it unreasonable. Quran and Sunnah give us a different view on how much sleep we really need.
As well as being a manual, the Quran and Sunnah are also very informative. They give us a great deal of knowledge, a lot of which hadn’t been discovered until recently. The Quran in particular talks about the sky. For this I will take two miracles. The first one is the lifetime of the sun, Allah (swt) mentions this in the Quran, but what does scientific research tell us? The second miracle is how we can use the stars as navigation. Allah (swt) tells us this in the Quran, but have humans ever applied this?
The second thing the Quran and Sunnah inform us about is the Earth. The first aspect I will look at is “mountains are like pegs”. Allah (swt) mentions that the mountains keep the Earth from shaking. Has science discovered anything about this? The second aspect is the small creatures and their huge roles in nature. In the Quran it is mentioned that Allah (swt) didn’t create anything in vain. To see what science says about it, I will look at two of nature’s examples: the butterfly, and the ladybug.
